Project Description

Barnett Southern Corporation’s complete construction solutions offers our customers more efficient and streamlined processes with specialized divisions and expertise within all service areas. Barnett Southern recently completed a project to replace a steel pole H-frame structure on SCE&G’s Okatie-McIntosh 230kV line where the line crosses the Savannah River. Since the structure is only accessible by barge, Barnett Southern was able to provide a complete job solution by providing essential logistics and support with our push boats, skilled labor, and support staff that join our experienced transmission line division for the next phase.

The work consists of mobilizing, by barge, all material and equipment to drive vibratory caissons, to assemble and erect a new steel H-frame structure, to transfer conductor from the existing structure to the new structure, and to remove the existing structure.

Combining the resources of Barnett Southern Marine and Barnett Southern Transmission & Distribution allows Barnett Southern to self-perform and provide the most efficient project possible.

Project Description

These projects again show the diverse experience of Barnett Southern. Approximately 60,000 tons of large armor stone was installed on the beaches of Jekyll Island and Sea Island on the coast of Georgia. In 2018, Barnett Southern installed truck scales and a scale house in Brunswick GA adjacent to a CSX rail spur. The armor stone was shipped via train from Vulcan Materials quarry in Sparta, GA to our location in Brunswick. During this project and others, rock from over 500 rail cars was unloaded with an excavator and transferred to over 3,000 dump trucks. Barnett Southern’s civil and logistics teams coordinated all the components for the project from setting up the yard, scheduling rock delivery from the quarry, maneuvering rail cars with CSX to delivering the product to the jobs with dump trucks. Because of the successful execution of these projects, Barnett Southern and aggregate providers will continue to work together to deliver stone to complex projects in ways few other companies can do.

Project Description

The beautiful Riverside Village complex in North Augusta, South Carolina was a complex, fast paced project which multiple stake-holders entrusted Barnett Southern Corporation to take the lead in the complete civil site package. The development was highlighted by the new construction of the Augusta Green-Jackets stadium, and is surrounded by the Ironwood apartment complex, stadium parking deck, Crowne Plaza Hotel, and hotel parking deck. These individual sites were ongoing within the same time period and were built in conjunction with the City of North Augusta’s brand-new infrastructure system. Barnett Southern remediated this site from existing manufacturing waste at the projects beginning. The stadium is depressed below existing grade and the need for deep excavations were required including a tri-plex storm water pump station. Extensive dewatering was utilized due to the proximity of the Savannah River. All facilities were delivered on time to extremely satisfied owners.
