Highway Construction Projects


Matthews Drive     Hilton Head, SC
The Project consists of widening the existing two lane roadway section with open ditches to a three lane roadway with dedicated left turn lanes, curb and gutter with planted raised medians, and a closed drainage system. This project is located in Beaufort County, South Carolina on Hilton Head Island and is approximately one mile in length. Mathews Drive intersects US 278, the highest capacity roadway on the Island. Barnett Southern Corporation was responsible for all storm drainage and water distribution on this project.

I-20/I-520 InterchangeAugusta, GA
Completed: 2009
Early 2007, Barnett Southern began working on the largest monetary project in Georgia Department of Transportation history ($192 million). Responsibilities on this project include grading, storm drainage, water distribution, sub grade/base, graded aggregate base, etc. This project was completed over eight months ahead of schedule.

State Road 20       Northeast FL
Completed:Ahead of schedule Fall 2008
State Road 20 is an important east-west roadway in Northeast Florida and serves as a hurricane evacuation route. The project starts where SR 20 intersects with US 301 in Hawthorne and extends to Interlachen in Putnam County. Storm drainage and water distribution systems.


SC170/46 Roundabout    SC
Completed:Summer 2007
This project consisted of the re-alignment of South Carolina Highway 170 and the installation of a roundabout at the new intersection of Highways 170 and 46. Installation of the storm drainage system on this project.

Highway 278  Beaufort County, SC
Completed:November 2006
This project consisted of the widening of US 278 from near Road S-7-474 (Simmonsville Road) to a point beyond Fording Island Road Extension. The overall project length was 4.955 miles in Beaufort County, South Carolina. All storm drainage installation on this job.
